“Would you like to super size your crime number Madam?”

Okay my first post up for discussion is the approval by the UK Government to lower the starting salary of a newly recruited Police Officer to £19000.

Before i write anymore please view the below picture.

This just gives an example of where the Police are in the current money list based on this decision.

This post has not been created to attack how much we think that the other occupations should be receiving. It is open to debate on whether you think that a Police Officer should be receiving the same starting salary that i did over 12 years ago. I know from personal experience that i struggled to get by then so God only knows how new recruits are going to cope with only earning this amount.

In my opinion this is another clear attack on the Police by this government. To pay a new recruit £19000 is an insult. When i applied for the Police the recruitment procedure was tough going and it was clear that they were only after a certain type of person who could potentially perform the duties that a Police Officer was required to do. A new recruit will still be expected to do the same as a seasoned officer in fact they will probably have to do more in order to gain the competencies that will take them up the gold plated ladder?

I don’t really know what type of person would want to apply to be a Police Officer for this starting salary. What do you think?

The police are here to protect us and they deserve more than £19000 per year. Especially when others get paid much more.
